The Oklahoma City National High Performance Center and Kossev Consortium co-hosted a coaching clinic by world-renowned rowing science consultant Valery Kleshnev, Ph.D., on January 10, 2010 at the Chesapeake Boathouse in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. About Dr. Valery Kleshnev

Valery Kleshnev

Valery Kleshnev spent 10 years as a member of USSR National Rowing team, winning a Junior World Championships in 1975, an Olympic Silver medal in 1980, a World’s bronze in 1982, and four National Championship titles. In 1984 Valery received a Masters Degree from Leningrad Academy of Physical Education as a rowing coach. From 1986 till 1990 he worked as a rowing coach and completed post-graduate study in Leningrad Research Institute of Sport. In 1991 Valery defended his thesis and became PhD in biomechanics of rowing and coaching science. Then he worked in Saint-Petersburg Institute of Sport as a head of Cyclic Sports unit.

In 1998 Valery was employed by the Australian Institute of Sport and moved to Canberra. During his seven years in Australia he worked with the World best rowing coaches and crews including three time Olympic champions Tomkins and Ginn (M2-). In 2005 Valery took a position as National Biomechanics Lead in the English Institute of Sport and moved to Britain. With his support, the British rowing Team achieved great success in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, winning six medals, two of them gold.

Since April 2009 Dr. Valery Kleshnev has been running his own company, BioRow Ltd., (www.biorow.com), which provides consultancy and R&D in Rowing Biomechanics and other sport science areas.

Valery continues his support of British Rowing. Also, his service is available to the best athletes and coaches around the World.
